The Ultimate Perfect Form of the World
A downloadable game
Titled The Ultimate Perfect Form of the World, the game aims to explore the relationship between human beings and their world through a series of interactive paintings. The theme is simple but open to interpretation: the game starts with a still image of human beings supporting the Earth, and as the time progresses they jump randomly off their position and run wild. In order to prevent the Earth from falling and ending, the player has to drag these humans back to support it.
As an interactive painting, the game is dedicated to evoking the traditional sense of art appreciation while providing strong interactive elements, thus creating a unique gameplay experience that is at once static and dynamic. The monumental design of the scene and the limited animations/actions focus the player’s attention to examine the subject matter, like standing in front of a painting. Furthermore, the game mimics the durability of painting as an artifact by intentionally not providing a winning scenario. The fact that there is no beating the game not only reflects the ever-present characteristic of a painting but also addresses the theme of the game, that is, the relationship between human beings and their world is a dynamic, never-ending process. Such affinity to painting, however, does not make it less like a game: through making the human figures jump off randomly, the scene changes its tone constantly with different composition and dramatic music, prompting the player to draw on experiences of both appreciating static painting and dynamic gameplay.
